During the holiday season it is so easy to get wrapped up in the craziness of it all.  There is tons of shopping to do with the pressure of spending money, that lets face it, many of us don’t really have in this declining economy.  There is decorating, cooking, baking, holiday card writing, wrapping presents, family gatherings, and office parties.  It can all become so overwhelming and even depressing to some people.  That is why I wanted to take time out of it all to do something that would put it all into perspective for me, basically show me what the true meaning of the holiday season is. Fried Thanksgiving Turkey has become increasingly popular. Unfortunately though there are many people who still do not know how to do it safely. From Jello to JLO:  Cardio Barre

Written by The Other Sarah

I am quite pleased with myself.  Seriously, I am patting myself on the back right now. After an almost year-long hiatus, I worked out.  I did cardio.  I broke a sweat.  I had aches and pains to show for my efforts.  This is a big deal for me, people.  I am that girl, or I’ve at least become that girl, that loathes anything that smells like exercise—I don’t run on treadmills, I don’t climb Stairmasters, I don’t race to nowhere on stationary bikes, at least not willingly. (READ MORE)

Malibu Farm Cooking Class

Written by

Abigail Herman

This past week I had the great pleasure of joining Helene Henderson, founder and chef at Malibu Farm for a cooking lesson and lunch.  Malibu Farm is off of Pacific Coast Highway, in a rural surprise called Point Dume.  Helene tends to the farm and its habitants: goats, chickens, and a sweet little pig. When she’s not tending the farm, she is a private chef for a notable Hollywood family. However, her passion for healthy, local, organic food is expressed mostly while she is teaching local women her tricks.  Her philosophy is simple: small portions of real food will make you feel real good.  She is “afraid of anything labeled “non,” “low” or “free” and she has a witty website where you can gain further insight about all of these philosophies. (READ MORE)
