Premio Lo Nuestro 2013 had much excitement for the nominated artists and of course their fans too!

There were quite a few amazingly talented artists that were nominated for awards, but there could only be one winner in each category.  I personally was very excited for Jenni Rivera who walked away a winner.  Regardless though if the artists won an award or not, all of them should look at the whole night with a glass half-full positive mentality because although it may sound like a cliche, it really is an honor just to be nominated. This group of artists were definitely the the creme de la creme.

If any of the artists have difficulty sleeping whether it’s due to the excitement of their win or even the understandable disappointment of their loss, my recommendation is that they should drink a glass of milk. This may help them get a better night’s sleep, which may also lead them to some great dreams too.  It’s always best to look at life with a positive attitude and this is so much easier to do when we’ve had a good night’s rest and are feeling well physically.

If I could give out the “Toma Leche Positive Song Award” to whichever Premio Lo Nuestro nominee I feel has the most positive song, it would be to Jenni Rivera.  I would actually give it to her for the most positive album, “Joyas Prestadas” (“Borrowed Jewels”),  which I believe has a very positive story behind it.

Jenni was inspired to record the double album because of her childhood.  She used to sell cassette tapes at local flea markets which she disliked very much because her parents would make her wake up at 5:00 a.m. so that she could set up the merchandise for sale. She recalls that by 9:00 a.m., she was usually in a much better mood after a delicious cup of hot chocolate.  

She also recalled “fighting” with her brothers about which tapes should be featured first in order to attract the customers.  Jenni said, ”Several years passed and cassettes became compact discs… we grew up and the fighting with my brothers continued… everyone wanted to listen to their favorite artists”… “Today I thank God that my parents taught us to work VERY hard and very early.  Now is a great blessing for me to have had the opportunity to work behind the counters. My parents could not have chosen a better business… MUSIC.”

Jenni says back in her youth when she listened to the artists and composers that she loved, while selling their tapes alongside with her family, with the sole purpose of just being able to support their family, she never imagined that one day she would eventually have a music legacy of her own to share. She says that the music from those artists inspired her and influenced her musical tastes as an artist today.

“Joyas Prestadas” (“Borrowed Jewels”) is Jenni’s way of paying homage to these artists and their songs which she considers ‘gems.’  In Jenni’s words, ”The meaning of the title of this album signifies for me, all the musical tracks included are true musical gems, that other performers have made famous and that they’ve granted me the favor of borrowing them to interpret in my voice.”

Jenni also said that she thanks God for the existence of every composer and each of the songs included in this album.

I personally like Jenni’s story because she didn’t seem to have fame on her mind during her youth, just a simple love and passion for music and her family.  I find her reference to having a delicious drink of hot chocolate as being endearing and relatable, especially since it is what put her in a better mood while working in the flea markets. 

I have always loved my hot chocolate made with milk and I think it’s a terrific remedy to put anyone into a better mood because who doesn’t love hot chocolate?!  However, my recommendation is to always make it with milk, because with water it is just, well watery hot chocolate (yuck).  It also doesn’t carry the calcium and same health benefits if it’s made with water, instead of milk!  

Now there are several artists in addition to Jenni Rivera who are nominated for the Premio Lo Nuestro Latin Music Awards 2013 that I believe could benefit from a delicious glass of milk, especially the night before the awards.  Milk may help promote a better night’s sleep for them, which in turn may help them with a more positive attitude the following day.  Therefore, whether they win or lose, they may have a more positive outlook throughout it all.  

For me now that I am 8 months pregnant, having a glass of milk has especially become a must-have before bed. It seems to be the only thing that helps me to prevent getting heart-burn at night and it helps calms my body too, so that I am better able to get a good night’s sleep.  I will especially be wanting to be calm the night before the Lo Nuestro Latin Music Awards 2013 because I can’t wait to see which of my favorite artists wins!

How do you all feel about this?  In my opinion, I’ve heard endless negative media on Chris Brown since his incident with Rihanna.  There have been too many stories about him that have “allegedly” linked him to bad/violent behavior. He just doesn’t seem truly reformed to me and I personally find this 2013 Grammy Award picture just as disturbing as the one above it.  Statistics show that battered women often do not leave their abusers, it’s sad to see Rihanna fall into this same statistic.

Yes it’s true, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are expecting a baby together. Kim is about 12 weeks pregnant and apparently Kanye announced it to thousands of fans on stage in Atlantic City Sunday night.

Kim’s family couldn’t be more thrilled tweeting like crazy about their happy family event. Momager (TM) Kris Jenner tweeted, ”Im a happy girl !!!!!!!!! Wowza! Oh BABY BABY BABY.”  Sis, Kourtney Kardashian also gave an excited Twitter shout out, “Been wanting to shout from the rooftops with joy and now I can!  Another angel to welcome to our family. Overwhelmed with excitement!”  While youngest sister Khloe had this to say, “Keeping secrets is hard with so many family members! Especially when you are so freaking excited!!!!! LOVE is everything!!!!”

So there you have it, the ink may not be dried on her divorce papers yet or even finalized for that matter, but Kim Kardashian has officially made Kanye West a permanent fixture in her life as her baby daddy. Congrats to Kimye!  Any suggestions for “K” names out there?
