I would like to wish everyone a very Happy Mother’s Day, especially to my mom Carmen who means the world to me.

I also want to wish my wonderful mother-in-law Arlene, and my Abuelita, Titi Millie, and Titi Carmen, , cousin April, sister-in-law Kristen, and best friend Roscelle, along with my daughter’s God Mother Celina, a very Happy Mother’s Day too!  I love you all very much!

Mother’s Day is a beautiful day because it gives us the opportunity to celebrate our moms. Now my mom and I have a very special relationship and even though we can drive each other crazy at times, no matter what we both know that the unconditional love is always there.  So thank you mom for all the sacrifices you made for me.  I love you very much and appreciate everything that you have done for me and for my daughter, your granddaughter Madison Isabella.

May is here and with it men and kids all across the US are beginning to stress about what to get their wives and moms for Mother’s day. After giving it some thought I realized that moms like two things: Bragging about their kids and bragging about their jewelry. When it comes to jewelry, I think a necklace is a safe bet. Last year my husband and daughters gave me a necklace with the word “Mommy” written in Old English lettering and it is still my favorite necklace ever!

I have found 5 different necklaces that any mother would love to open on Mother’s Day.

1. A few years ago my sisters and I wanted to buy my mom a mother’s ring. We looked around and nothing really worked for us or for her. My mom does not wear much jewelry and we knew she would want something to represent the whole family, not just her four kids. So when we found the Family Window necklace from lifetimemothers.com we knew it would be perfect. The circle is large enough to hold a birthstone gem from each person in the family. I also love that it is super easy and inexpensive to add to it with each new member of the family.

2. Over at Coattonline.com I found these gorgeous and very minial and simple necklaces. What looks like just tiny dots and lines are really morse code. For Mother’s Day give her the one that reads “mom” or the “love.”  What a unique gift!

3. Mom’s know that each of their children are special and unique. This thumbprint necklace from imprintonmyheart.com is a great way for mom to keep her child close to her heart all day.

4. For something more bold and big you can  have all of mom’s children’s initials put into a monogram. A big monogram necklace with the letters swirled all together will give mom her own unique symbol representing her family.  Here are some great ones on Etsy!

5. The necklace that Carrie wears in the show Sex in the City quickly became uber popular. On the TV show Up All Night, Christina Applegate character is a new Mom and she always has on her “carrie” necklace but with her daughters name on it. These necklaces are very cool and over at mynamenecklace.com you can have a necklace made with any name is a lot of different styles.

Mommyhood to Hollywood is about celebrating women and supporting positivity.  That is why we are proud to share with you a very special event hosted by Women Supporting Women.

Women Supporting Women was created in an effort to support each other in a time of need.   They came across a video by a woman named Stephanie Wiebke, and her husband Nick, who shared their story about Stephanie’s struggle with cancer, infertility, failed fertility treatments, the sad loss of her mother, and a devastating miscarriage.  After enduring all of these struggles, the couple has decided to turn towards adoption to help make their dream come true of starting a family.  However, their dreams of adopting is accompanied by a huge financial burden, one that is even greater than any fertility treatment they have undergone.  Therefore, after watching Stephanie and Nick’s video, Women Supporting Women knew that there was something that they could do to help assist Stephanie and Nick with their adoption dream.

Therefore, on May 10th, 2012 at Encore in Wayne, NJ from 6pm to 10pm, Women Supporting Women is doing a shopping event to help them.  Yes, we all understand that you can shop anywhere, but the difference here is that they are offering specials with each vendor that is involved and half the cost of vendor tables will be donated to Stephanie and her husband’s fund for adoption.  While proceeds from the ticket sales will also be donated to them as well.

Tickets are on sale now and will include the following: Admission to the event, passed appetizers all night, mini cheesecake desserts, a goody bag full of gifts, a raffle ticket, and more!  Tickets will not be sold at the door, so make sure to get your tickets beforehand. I recently wrote on my blog a little bit about our rushed morning routine.  It seems like no matter what time I wake up, I am always rushing. When my daughter got her 5th tardy slip I knew I needed to find a way to make our morning routine run smoother.  Here are a few great tips that have helped my child finally get to school on time!

• Lay out clothes the night before. Not just the kid’s clothes, but everyone’s clothes.  Then there is no time wasted trying to figure out what to wear.
• When it comes to breakfast, know what you are going to make beforehand.
• If your kids are big cereal eaters you can set up breakfast the night before. Leave a bowl of cereal on the table covered in plastic wrap. Then place a cup of milk in the fridge on a shelf your child can reach.  Then they can serve themselves cereal and you won’t have to worry about a mess.
• Take showers and baths the night before.
• Have your child’s homework checked and their backpack packed and waiting by the door.
• Pack lunches the night before.
• Stick to a routine. This way you know everything that needs to get done is done.

A smooth and fun morning routine can give you and your child a great start to the entire day!

A HUGE CONGRATS to Giuliana and Bill Rancic who are expecting a baby!  Mommyhood to Hollywood couldn’t be more excited for the couple who has seen their share of obstacles over the last couple of years, struggling with IVF, a miscarriage, and Giuliana’s battle with Breast Cancer.  This couple was over due for this blessed news!

“We are so thrilled that our prayers have been answered,” the E! News anchor and Fashion Police cohost exclusively tells E!.  Bill adds, “We are absolutely ecstatic to be sharing this with everyone who has been following our journey.”

The baby is due in late summer via a gestational surrogate—which means the baby will be the Rancics’ genetic child.

I think it’s safe to say that when reading this Pinterest post above most mothers feel this way.  We all often suffer at one time or another from “Mommy Guilt.”  Working mothers feel guilty that their kids may not be getting enough family time at home because they’re in day care all day.  While stay-at-home moms feel guilty that their kids may not be getting enough socialization with other kids because they’re at home most days.  Seriously, as moms we are always questioning ourselves, constantly wondering if we are doing the right things, or even worse if we are doing the wrong things?

Lets face it, motherhood does not come with an instruction manual and there isn’t a help line to call that can tell you the perfect way to raise your children.  All we can really do is rely on our own instincts, try to educate ourselves by listening to other mothers’  experiences, while sharing our own experiences as well.  Of course there are the old stand-bys, parenting books, websites, our own mothers to learn from.  However, the bottom line is every child is different, therefore every parenting experience is different too.  There really is no one perfect formula that works for all children.  Scary, I know.  

On top of all this, us mothers have our own needs, our own desires, our own wants out of life that step out of the realm of just motherhood, but you know what, we feel guilty about this too!  It can become an endless vicious cycle of guilt.

However, when you choose to become a mother you do choose to put someone else’s life ahead of yours, at least that’s what we’ve been taught that good mothers are suppose to do.  However, doesn’t finding happiness within ourselves as individuals, make for a better outcome in raising and sustaining happier children?  Maybe it is okay to sometimes let go of the Mommy Guilt and put ourselves first, even if it’s only just for one day out of the month?  Perhaps this one day of selfish indulgence can actually aid us into being better mothers.  After-all we want to try to avoid Mommy Burnout and the best way to do this might just be to let go of some of that Mommy Guilt.  

It feels very natural to put my daughter’s well-being before mine because her happiness brings me the most joy in my life.  However, I still need to do things that revolve solely around me as an individual, so that when my daughter grows up and leaves the nest, I will not have forgotten what it is to be me as an individual, not just as a wife and mother, but as my own woman.
